The customer in the Munich area supplies seat covers in several part families in sequence and just-in-time. The aim of the project was to replace an old system and optimize processes—especially in replenishment and sequencing. The result: 20% savings in process costs and a future-proof solution for production logistics.
Requirements
- 4 interfaces (sequence calls, tachograph, ASN goods issue, picking call for reorders)
- Goods receipt with 1D and 2D VDA labels
- Replenishment to fixed picking locations, taking into account FIFO and index changes
- Sequencing in reverse order
- JIS and JIT loading, including digital shipping notification
Why was moviniti introduced?
The previous systems were inflexible and expensive to customize. Long waiting times for changes and a lack of end-to-end integration led to a lack of transparency in delivery capabilities. With moviniti sequence, a solution was introduced that digitally maps all relevant processes: from goods receipt with VDA labels to replenishment to fixed picking locations to sequencing in reverse order. The software is cloud-based, intuitive to use, and can be integrated without local server infrastructure.
What were the challenges?
The biggest challenge was the extremely short time frame: only two days lay between the last scan in the old system and the go-live with moviniti. Parallel tests on site, preparation of the data migration, and the establishment of a maximum production lead time ensured that the changeover went smoothly. Employees were closely involved and continuously trained. Experts from moviniti supported the site in both shifts after the go-live.
What advantages did moviniti bring?
The introduction of moviniti sequence led to a 20% reduction in process costs. After the go-live, further optimizations were implemented, such as the digitization of the manual process for restocking missing parts. Thanks to the pay-per-use model, the software automatically adapts to the volume—decreasing volumes mean decreasing costs. Unlimited server performance, maintenance, further development, and support from Monday to Friday are included.
